Next Generation

WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?

So often the younger generations seem to lose touch with their heritage, culture and especially their nationality. But we young Istrian's are taking a stand and trying to change that within our own generation.

We understand our Istrian/American culture - why our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents came to America: a better life, for freedom, for rights and the unaccountable opportunities that this great country has to offer. But so many aspects of our upbringing coincide with our Istrian heritage. Whether it's our eating habits (a love for fuzi and gnocchi), the Istrian/English that is spoken at home or our frequent visit to the Istria Club for dinner.

By being young adults and truly understanding our heritage, we get a sense of being. It gives us a uniqueness to the world that no other culture can give. We as the youth are proud of our Istrian background and all that is has to offer. As the next generation we must follow in the footsteps of our families and carry on the Istrian culture that is instilled in us all. So much of Istria is within us all. Born there or not, it is still a part of us. It's who we are, and we cannot let that part of us fade away. Please come join us and help the next generation share the continuing success of the Istria Club.

WHO ARE WE?

JohnPaul Bucich, J. J. Knesich, Alexandra Bucich-Resch, Sean Resch, Francis Dobry and Johnny Glavic and many others are involving themselves with this group as we are progressing forward. The Next Generation is looking to learn more about our heritage and our nationality as well as celebrate old traditions and start new ones. We want to bring together the young adults and form a group that will strive to uphold the past and future of Istria here in America. Regardless of your ancestry, you don't need to be born in Istria to be part of the culture.

Our focus is the club and to fill the large gap between us and our predecessors. We want to keep the traditions of the club and create new ones of our own. We are fortunate enough to have this wonderful club and we should be so lucky to be able to share it with our children one day.

The Next Generation has a long way to go but with the support from the executive board our future seems bright. We appreciate the support we receive from the board and look forward to the future. Thanks for this opportunity we hope to make you all proud.

WHAT WE DO...

FOOD DRIVES______________________________________________________________
It's nice to give to those in need. Every year we've been hosting a food drive for Father Robert Zubic, from Most Precious Blood RC Church. We usually start late fall and bring the food to the church before Christmas. Signs will be posted in the club with the dates.
